Edisto, Kiawah, Folly, Charleston Harbor, Cape Romain, Georgetown, Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach. Today's fishing report, plus live tides, wind and weather for all 19 towns on this stretch.
At Seabrook Island on Oct. 20, the popping cork went down on the first cast, and once the water warmed the reds started inhaling cut mullet on the bottom. Earlier in the month off Folly Beach, reds ate blue crab chunks and mud minnows around shell rakes and docks, with the biggest near 27 inches. Around Charleston, bull reds are feeding hard on cut and live bait on the bottom, mullet are thick and easy to throw a net on, and paddle-tail plastics are catching more trout as the water cools.
Morning water is about 72 degrees at the Edisto river mouths and about 70 at Murrells Inlet. On the north end of the Grand Strand, October is often the best month for trout, reds, flounder and black drum; start with live shrimp, then switch to DOA or Gulp when shrimp run short.
