Mosquito Lagoon, Ponce Inlet, the Matanzas River, St. Augustine Inlet, the St. Johns River and Amelia Island. Today's fishing report, plus live tides, wind and weather for all 14 towns on this stretch.
From New Smyrna and Mosquito Lagoon up to Daytona, a front and strong north wind pushed the bait around, but trout, reds, jacks and snook are still hanging on the bait pods. Plugs and spoons work, and so do pinfish and finger mullet.
In Northeast Florida, the nor’easter has the ocean too rough to fish through the weekend, with water down to about 78. Inside, fish the main waterways where mullet schools are running, and throw topwaters and big swimbaits for reds and trout, or live finger mullet on a Carolina rig. Well west of the Intracoastal, live shrimp under a cork on the grass lines and docks is the plan, and black drum and croakers are on those same spots for dead shrimp on the bottom. Stay in less than five feet; the schooling fish are shallow.
